The trainings were attended by about 500 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who communicate with persons with disabilities, low-mobility groups of the population, interact with people with various special needs. They also received training on compliance with the requirements of anti-discrimination legislation during the performance of official duties.

The same trainings were conducted for dispatchers of the emergency assistance system “System 112”, which began to work relatively recently. We believe that for the effective fulfillment of the tasks assigned to the dispatchers of the emergency assistance system “System 112”, it is important to establish the right vector of interaction and cooperation with persons with disabilities, this will provide mutual support and high-quality communication.

Also, training was conducted for those who rescue, support and help others every day in wartime — for representatives of psychological and medical units of the State Emergency Service.

Within the framework of the event, practical exercises on compliance with the rules of work and communication with people with impaired vision, hearing, musculoskeletal system, with intellectual and mental disorders were practiced. The need to introduce rules for interaction and communication with people with various types of violations in training programs, functional duties of specialists was discussed.

Training on non-discrimination was conducted for employees of the National Police, the State Migration Service of Ukraine, the Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine. The exercises examined the basic concepts that police officers, border guards, migration service workers should know about non-discrimination, national legislation and international standards on non-discrimination, examples of best practices and measures to prevent and combat discrimination in the work of European countries and Ukraine.

The training was conducted with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine and financial support from the Government of Japan.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is sincerely grateful to the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine (UNDP) for its expert support and assistance in the implementation of the objectives of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy for the creation of a barrier-free space in Ukraine for the period up to 2030, in particular, for conducting exercises that will shape tolerance and communication ethics in employees bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system.

Today we must direct our efforts to support every person who has acquired a disability, to help them obtain information and services in the communication vector and format available to them.

We strive to understand the communication problems of different categories of the population, to communicate information to society regardless of the physical, sensory or other capabilities of a person.

We look forward to further cooperation and interaction with the experts of the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine (UNDP) in the framework of creating a barrier-free space in the security sector of Ukraine.
