Psychological selection
Candidates who have decided to join the National Guard of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the State Border Service of Ukraine get acquainted with the activities of psychologists at the stages of professional and psychological selection. Specialists of the psychological services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs effectively use psychological measures to study individual-psychological, personal qualities: psychological testing, the method of Assessment-Center, methods of situational exercises (case-method), evaluation interviews. Motivation of conscious choice of profession is one of the main criteria for professional and psychological selection.
Selection of the best of the best is carried out by a psychologist, who must determine in the candidate the leading individual-psychological characteristics, qualities and character traits, dominant motives of his behavior, psychophysiological, emotional reactions and states, patterns of mental processes, level of development of intelligence, cognitive sphere, features of thinking, memory, attention, emotional and volitional sphere, the way of making independent decisions, the presence of leadership tendencies, the general development of communicative qualities, propensity to managerial activity, prediction of stress resistance, success in certain conditions of professional activity, psychological readiness to serve in extreme situations.
