Tatiana Kovalchuk: Ensuring equal opportunities for women and men in the context of further implementation of the principles of gender policy is one of the leading areas of activity of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Issues of gender policy implementation in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were discussed today in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with members of the UN delegation “Women”.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Tetiana Kovalchuk provided an analysis of the results of the relevant work over the past year. Key emphasis was placed on the state of implementation of the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, Security” for the period up to 2020.

Tetiana Kovalchuk informed, in particular, that the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of December 12, 2017 No. 1019 approved the Action Plan of the Ministry on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace and Security” for the period up to 2020.

The head of the UN delegation “Women” Anastasia Divinska noted the successful experience of interaction between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the structural body of the UN “Women”. She also introduced three gender advisors for further work with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, namely Khrystyna Brodych, Ekaterina Guy and Mykhaila Koryukalova. The main task of the Gender Advisers will be to provide technical support, including expert support in the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace and Security” for the period up to 2020.

Separately, we discussed further steps and priorities for cooperation.
