Tatiana Kovalchuk: An important element of gender integration is international interaction
Today, June 10, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Tetiana Kovalchuk addressed the participants of the conference “Ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in Ukraine: modern achievements and prospects”.
In her speech, the Deputy Minister stressed that an important element of gender integration is international interaction.
“We constantly conduct trainings together with international partners, in particular, a Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the consortium “NIRAS” SwedenAB (project “Gender Budgeting in Ukraine”), - said Tetiana Kovalchuk.
The Deputy Minister also recalled that with the support of the UN Office Women in Ukraine, indicators of gender analysis of career growth of civil servants in the apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were developed.
Such indicators make it possible to monitor the current state of career growth of women and men in the Ministry, identify gaps and inequalities during promotion.
At the same time, Tatiana Kovalchuk outlined priority areas in the field of equal rights and opportunities for women and men in 2021, in particular, the implementation of:
• training on gender-based violence;
• information work with the population for the formation of a culture of peace, tolerance and intolerance to violence in society; • monitoring the participation of women in peacekeeping operations to support peace and security and conducting information activities to involve them in this process;
• research on the level of satisfaction availability, availability and quality of medical care provided to women in health institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the Deputy Minister, it is also planned to develop an online course in the field of combating gender-based violence and improving the response mechanism and prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
