Tetiana Kovalchuk: The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducts trainings on improving the gender competence of employees
This was announced today, on September 13, by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Tatiana Kovalchuk during a meeting with the Counsellor of the EU Advisory Mission on Gender Issues Agata Zhimanska and the Head of the Department of Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 of the Folke Academy Bernadotte Gabriela Ella Roy.
“At present, the establishment of an equal opportunities policy is an important area of activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. For its implementation and monitoring, we have created a Gender Equality Division in our structure. He has already conducted 11 trainings on improving the gender competence of forefathers. At the moment, the same departments have already been created in the National Guard and the State Border Service,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs stressed.
She noted that on September 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will hold a training on gender equality policy development for senior managers of structural units of the internal affairs system bodies.
“We will present the Action Plan of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the implementation of the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, Security” to the senior managers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We need all top management to understand the importance of the gender aspect, the task and the expected result,” added Tetiana Kovalchuk.
Adviser to the EU's Gender Advisory Mission Agata Zhymanska noted the achievements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in establishing an equal opportunities policy.
“We see that the Ministry of Interior has all the necessary components for the successful further development of gender policy. You are an example for other government agencies,” she added.
