“I am extremely pleased to open today's roundtable, which is dedicated to an important event - the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This date is promulgated by Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly of December 22, 2015. Without gender equality in the fields of education and science, it is impossible to achieve the goals of sustainable development, because there is no gallery where there is no place for women,” said Deputy Minister Kateryna Pavlichenko during the opening of an online roundtable dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, organized by the National Academy of Internal Affairs under the patronage of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Kateryna Pavlichenko recalled that earlier women's participation in science, their inventions and achievements — were attributed to men. Therefore, right now it is important to draw the attention of society to the activities of women in science and to popularize the prospects of women's professional self-realization through scientific achievements. Currently, in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, the share of scientists is larger than the average in Ukraine, and is 51%.

“I am convinced that such events and discussions will contribute to the future realization of scientific potential, the achievement of significant heights in the chosen profession and, in the end, will help to change the world and modern science for the better,” concluded Ekaterina Pavlichenko.

The round table was attended by representatives of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the advisory mission of the European Union in Ukraine.
