On suspicion of selling replacement therapy drugs, police officers exposed a group of doctors
The police departments of the anti-drug crime of the Dnipropetrovsk region blocked the drug supply channel from the Odessa region and documented the criminal activities of four medical workers of the anti-tuberculosis dispensary.
In October last year in Dnipro, police found more than 500 pills of narcotic drugs in the car of a local resident. As it was established, the abuser received drugs in the city of Odessa on the prescriptions of narcologists within the framework of the program of replacement supportive therapy for patients with opioid dependence. During the investigation, it turned out that these drugs were purchased illegally.
On June 25, employees of the Department of Counter Narcotics Crime of the GUNP in the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office conducted a number of searches. Employees of the investigative department of the GUNP in the Dnipropetrovsk region and police departments for combating drug crime of the Odessa region joined the events. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized more than 4.3 thousand replacement therapy drugs, including Methadon, Buprenorphine and Ednok.
It was established that the head physician of the TB dispensary and the nurses of the replacement supportive therapy office violated the established rules for accounting and dispensing of these drugs. In particular, drugs were illegally dispensed to people who had no medical indications and grounds for receiving them.
Currently, all drugs, prescription forms, documentation, draft records and other physical evidence have been seized. Examination is carried out. Based on its results, a decision will be made to open criminal proceedings under Articles 308 (abduction, appropriation, solicitation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues or their possession by fraud or abuse of office), 319 (illegal issuance of a prescription for the right to purchase narcotic drugs or psychotropic drugs or psychotropic drugs substances) and 320 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the established rules for the circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors). Doctors face up to six years in prison.
