Doctors with world recognition will take care of the health of the children of the guards
An agreement on this was reached between the Director General of KNP CHOR “Interregional Specialized Medical and Genetic Center — Center for Rare (Orphan) Diseases” and the Director of the Ukrainian Institute of Mitochondrial and Epigenomic Medicine of the KhNMU, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medicine of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Elena Grechanina, Head of the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine Lieutenant General Serhiy Sokolovskyi and Head of the Eastern OTTO of NGU Major General Oleg Sakhon.
Already at the beginning of November in Kharkiv, the specialists of the Center and the Institute will begin to receive, advise and treat not only children of NGU officers and contractors, but also cadets and military personnel whose diseases cannot be understood by doctors of clinics and hospitals. First of all, we are talking about so-called orphan diseases - rare congenital or acquired diseases that are characterized by a severe, chronic course, progressive course, accompanied by the formation of degenerative changes in the body, a decrease in quality and a reduction in the life expectancy of patients and even pose a threat to their lives.
As noted by Professor Elena Grechanina, unfortunately, sometimes neither parents nor doctors immediately pay attention to such diseases. However, the earlier they are diagnosed, the better the life of a person will be.
By the way, colleagues from the most developed countries of the world often turn to Professor Grechanina for advice, and patients travel not only from Ukraine, but also from Germany, USA, Italy, France, African countries. The electronic queue at the Institute of Clinical Genetics is already filled in January next year.
However, for children of guards, as well as for examination and counseling of cadets and soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine, doctors specially go to work on weekends.
“How else? The soldiers of the National Guard are our defenders! Helping them and their children is our desire and duty, - said Professor Elena Grechanina. - Believe my doctor's experience - when your child is sick, you are simply not able to perform your work qualitatively. And the work of the soldiers of the National Guard is the protection service, including us. Therefore, it is very important that our defenders are themselves protected. And if we, doctors, can provide that protection, then we must do it!”
The range of diseases and conditions treated by specialists of the Medical Genetic Center and the Institute of Clinical Genetics is wide and not limited to rare diseases. Thousands of couples who have already almost lost hope of having a child, today gratefully remember the Kharkiv doctors who helped them realize the dream of a son or daughter. Every child has the right to be born healthy, Elena Yakovna is sure.
It is in Kharkiv that the doctors of the MHC not only help to give birth to a child, but also know how to protect it in the future from serious diseases, how to return to a full life a child or an adult who has been diagnosed with a serious diagnosis.
And the reason for such successes is simple - Elena Grechanina and her colleagues consider any disease not as a disease of a particular organ, but as a problem of the whole organism.
“Sometimes even medicines are not needed, it is enough just to change the diet, give up something or, on the contrary, add something to the diet and the disease will recede, and the person will be able to return to a full life,” Professor Grechanina noted. According to the head of the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Sokolovsky, the help of the Institute of Clinical Genetics and Professor Elena Grechanina personally is very important and responsible
for the National Guard of Ukraine.
“We are one guard family and it is important for every general, every unit commander, officer of any rank to be aware of the problems of subordinates, to be able to provide timely assistance to their brothers. Especially when it comes to the state of health of children, - Serhiy Sokolovsky said. “As for cadets and military personnel, they were entrusted to us by their parents, so during the service, it is we who have to take care of their health as the parents of these boys would do if they were nearby.” We will
add, on the initiative of General Lieutenant Serhiy Sokolovsky, cooperation between KNP KHOR “Interregional Specialized Medical and Genetic Center — Center for Rare (Orphan) Diseases” and the Ukrainian Institute of Mitochondrial and Epigenomic Medicine of KhNMU — on the one hand — and the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine, the Eastern Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine - on the other hand - will be drawn up within the framework of the relevant memorandum. Military and civilian doctors have already begun work on planning examinations of children of guards and soldiers in Sumy, Slavyansk, Mariupol and Rubezhny.
“We are grateful to Elena Yakivna and her specialists for their position, help and most importantly - respect for the guards!, - said the head of the Eastern ATO NGU Major General Oleg Sakhon, “I am sure that no child of any of our servicemen will be left without attention and receives the appropriate assistance, which will allow her to continue to be healthy and happy for the joy of her parents.”
