New Head of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the National Police of Ukraine

The unit was headed by Sergey Fedchenko, who previously worked in operational positions. Today, March 12, he was presented by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksandr Gogilashvili, Head of National Police Igor Klymenko and First Deputy Head — Chief of Criminal Police of NPU Yevhen Koval.

“I am confident in the professionalism of the newly appointed head of the unit and your entire team in general. The problem of drug crime is one of the most painful for our society. Therefore, we have a lot of work ahead,” Oleksandr Gogilashvili stressed.

 

Igor Klymenko noted that the fight against drug crime is one of the priority areas of activity of the National Police:

“An integrated approach is important in the fight against drug crime: it concerns both the detection of international drug traffic and the channels of illicit drug sales via the Internet, as well as the fight against street drug trafficking, including through bookmarking. Therefore, set up the team to cooperate with all services of the criminal unit for specific results of work.”

At the same time, First Deputy Head of the National Police — Chief of Criminal Police Yevhen Koval noted that police officers will continue to develop their work together with international colleagues.

“We already have positive results of working with our international colleagues to combat transnational drug crime. We have a positive experience of cooperation that we will develop.”
