The Barrier-Free Solutions Album is a guide that illustrates how the infrastructure and environment can be friendly to people with disabilities, people with young children, the elderly.
The guide was created on the initiative of the first lady Elena Zelenskaya. The developers of the guide are Big City Lab together with the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development and the NGO “Barriernoost”. The guide is implemented as part of the Urban Development in Ukraine project.
The album of barrier-free solutions contains schemes and architectural solutions that will further help to create urban spaces friendly to low-mobility groups of the population.
The guide encourages us to think about the fact that by designing according to the rules of universal design, we are engaged in simplifying complex things with an understanding of accessibility standards. It is important to know that it is impossible to design an environment without understanding and without taking into account human diversity.
