Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives: Alone we are strong, together we are powerful

The Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives (UAPPO) is a non-governmental organization that unites women and men from different law enforcement agencies.

Our goal is to introduce gender equality and provide equal rights and opportunities for women and men in law enforcement agencies. Together, we strive to create a favorable environment for all law enforcement officers.

The Association is the first in Ukraine and unique for Eastern Europe, as it promotes the implementation of gender-sensitive policies and practices in law enforcement agencies.

The vision of the Association is gender balance in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.

UAPPO's mission is to promote equal rights and opportunities for women and men in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.

The values of the UAPPO are based on the principles of “3b”:

Openness

Members of the Association can be both women and men law enforcement officers, regardless of rank, position and region

Responsibility

UAPPO makes informed decisions, and each member is aware of the responsibility for their actions to other members of the Association and partners

Devotion

UAPPO members are committed to ideas and willing to contribute to achieving gender balance in law enforcement

In its activities, the Association identified four strategic directions:

  1. creating a favorable environment for women and men in law enforcement
  2. leadership and professional development, career growth of women in law enforcement
  3. mentoring for women in law enforcement
  4. Organizational development of the Association

What we do

  • discussing the challenges of gender inequality in the format of an open dialogue
  • exchange of professional and personal experience with representatives of other agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and foreign law enforcement agencies
  • Development of women's leadership and mentoring
  • networking and mutual support
  • Conferences, round tables, thematic meetings, professional development days and practical classes

The association aims to strengthen the voice of women representatives of law enforcement agencies, to promote the growth of their authority and trust in them.

 

 

Benefits of participation in the Association

UAPPO operates as a platform for sharing experiences in leadership and career development and offers its members:

  • professional and personal development (trainings, seminars, webinars, classes on tactical and fire training, self-defense)
  • help in finding a balance between work and personal life
  • the opportunity to participate in the development of the mentoring system in law enforcement agencies
  • assistance in providing comprehensive assistance (psychological, legal, etc.)

One of the important functions of UAPPO is to create a network of representatives of law enforcement agencies throughout Ukraine for dialogue and exchange of ideas. We want as many women in law enforcement as possible to develop their leadership qualities and grow professionally.

Membership in UAPPO

Membership in the Association is open to women and men who are representatives of law enforcement agencies.

  • National Guard of Ukraine
  • State Emergency Service
  • Police Patrol Academy
  • National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after B. Khmelnitsky
  • National Academy of Internal Affairs
  • National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine

The Association was created with the assistance of the Police Training Support Project (PTAP) funded by the Government of Canada.
