This was discussed during the meeting of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Tatiana Kovalchuk with the head of the Office of UN-Women Anastasia Divinska, which took place today, April 3.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has a strong research base. We need to use it to study and implement socially important principles in the system of internal affairs bodies. One of these issues that need attention is the attitude towards masculinity and gender equality,” Tatiana Kovalchuk said.

She noted that such a study can be conducted on the basis of the State Research Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Academy of Internal Affairs.

“By attracting all the scientific potential, we will be able to conduct a qualitative study of the opposition to gender equality observed in the civil security sector of Ukraine,” added the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

In turn, the head of the Office of UN-Women in Ukraine Anastasia Divinska noted the great achievements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the way of implementing gender-neutral policy in the system.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs is at the forefront of gender policy implementation in state bodies of Ukraine. To disseminate this experience, we propose the creation of an interinstitutional group that will include representatives of all security and defense agencies,” she said.

Recall that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has introduced a network of contact persons on gender issues, working in each structural subdivision of the Ministry in order to monitor compliance with a non-discriminatory working climate.
