About this today, November 22, Deputy Minister Tetiana Kovalchuk said at the seminar “Ensuring gender parity in the public service. “The process of implementing equal rights and opportunities for women and men is an important step forward for the activities of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. One of the most striking examples of achievements in ensuring gender equality, a real step towards non-discrimination of women in labor relations, is the abolition of job restrictions,” Tatiana Kovalchuk stressed.

In order to improve the regulatory framework and eliminate legal restrictions, changes were made to a number of regulatory documents, which allowed women to occupy positions that were previously purely male.

For the implementation and implementation of the National Plans and the State Program, the Ministry of Internal Affairs adopted a number of departmental orders and conducted a large-scale information-analytical and educational campaign in the midst of the law enforcement structure, namely: the National Plan 1325 “Women, Peace, Security” was developed, the institutional plan was developed mechanism, created a network of gender advisers in the apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the CEV, organized the educational process, trainings and classes on gender awareness of employees, and introduced the gender aspect in higher education institutions of the system.

The Deputy Minister also spoke about the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives (UAPPO): “This is a platform where women law enforcement officers can develop their leadership skills, support each other, and promote the implementation of gender-sensitive policies and practices in relevant structures. The Association is one of the first such associations in the Eastern European region to promote the implementation of such policies and practices in the relevant structures.”

Recall that on November 15, 2018, the first UAPPO Conference took place.
