In accordance with Articles 9, 13 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Principles of State Regulatory Policy in the Field of Economic Activity” (hereinafter — the Law), we announce the publication on June 16, 2023 on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine of the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Traffic Rules on license plates, identification signs, inscriptions and designations” (hereinafter referred to as the draft resolution): https://mvs.gov.ua/normativna-baza-mvs/proekti-normativnix-aktiv/projekt-postanovi-kabinetu-ministriv-ukrayini-pro-vnesennia-zmin-do-pravil-doroznyogo-ruxu-shhodo-nomernix-rozpiznavalnix-znakiv-napisiv-i-poznacen.
In accordance with Article 13 of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as a State Language”, the language of normative legal acts and acts of individual action, paperwork and document circulation of state authorities, authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and local self-government bodies is the state language.
The National Commission on Standards of the State Language, based on the results of consideration of appeals of citizens of Ukraine, appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with a proposal to amend the Rules of the Road, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated October 10, 2001 No. 1306, in particular replacing the word “educational vehicle” with the words “educational vehicle” means”, since in the Ukrainian language it is normative to use only the adjective “educational”, one of the meanings of which, given in the eleven-volume “Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language”, is “adapted for training, training”.
Therefore, in order to bring the Rules of the Road into line with the rules of Ukrainian spelling, by making appropriate amendments to them, a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Rules of the Road with regard to license plates, identification signs, inscriptions and signs” has been developed.
