A police helicopter transported a seriously ill 6-month-old boy from Rivne region to Kiev
Today, August 5, a small patient from Rovno was transported to the capital in an hour and a half. In Kiev, the Okhmatdyt doctors were waiting for the child to provide emergency care.
According to Yaroslav Ivanov, on-duty doctor of the National Children's Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt”, the health condition of the 6-month-old baby is stable, but severe. Therefore, there was a need for its prompt transportation to the intensive care unit for the operation.
In Rivne, an emergency medical intensive care unit accompanied by patrol police officers delivered little David to a helicopter. In the future, a seriously ill boy accompanied by a team of anesthesiologists was transported to the capital.
State expert of the Directorate of High-Tech Medical Care and Innovation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Tetiana Potupalova said that the child needed to be sent to a specialized medical institution as soon as possible due to the specifics of respiratory support.
“This is a severe patient with lung destruction. It was advisable to spend as little time as possible on the road. Therefore, a helicopter was involved. This flight became possible thanks to the joint cooperation of several ministries and the persistence of both doctors from Rivne and the parents of the child,” Tatiana Potupalova said.
The flight took place without any delays, so the boy in Kiev was handed over to a team of doctors to provide professional assistance.
“It was the coordinated work of the unified system of bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and coordinated actions that helped to fulfill the task in time and send the boy to the hospital. We hope that everything will be fine with him,” said the pilot of the police helicopter Anton Mikhailyuk.
The entire staff of the National Police of Ukraine wishes David a speedy recovery.
