The National Police conducted a large-scale special operation and detained a powerful drug group in the Dnipropetrovsk region
More than 20 members of the criminal group are residents of Kryvyi Rih, who “worked” exclusively in the central part of the city. The main “direction” of activity was the sale of the psychotropic substance “methamphetamine”. Daily dealers sold about six thousand doses of psychotropic. Operatives of the Department for Combating Drug Crimes together with the investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office have been working for more than a year to expose a criminal drug group that has affected the criminogenic situation in the region.
The group consisted of more than 20 people, each of the participants was responsible for their direction of “work”: organization, supply of methamphetamine, packaging, its marketing and control of funds. Around the clock, five “shops on wheels” selling psychotrope ran through the city, covering the central districts of Kryvyi Rih. The drug dealers packed the “goods” into tubes and sold “from hand to hand”. The
actions of the drug addicts were strictly controlled by a “physical support group”, which included professional athletes. In case of failure of sellers to comply with psychotropic sales standards or attempts by third-party dealers to sell “prohibited substances” on their territory, they exerted psychological and physical pressure.
In addition, the members of the group reported daily to the so-called “accountants” on the amount of methamphetamine sales and revenue. It is
known that during the day such “shops” sold about 6000 doses of methamphetamine for a total amount of 100 thousand hryvnias, which allowed them to earn about 4 million hryvnias every month..
On December 22, law enforcement officers conducted a series of authorized searches of the places of residence of the defendants and in their cars. During the investigation, police officers seized methamphetamine, cannabis, weapons, ammunition, a large number of mobile phones, SIM cards and bank cards, as well as money in national and foreign currency.
The issue of notifying defendants of suspicion is resolved under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
part 4 of Art. 28 - the commission of a criminal offense by a group of persons, a group of persons by a previous conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization; part 1 of Art. 255 - creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it;
part 3 of article 307 - illegal production, manufacture, acquisition the possession, storage, transportation, shipment or marketing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues.
The issue of choosing preventive measures for suspects is being resolved.
For the actions committed, the defendants are threatened with imprisonment for a term of up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
The events were held with the participation of soldiers of the special unit TOR, special purpose police regiment and police officers from Kherson, Nikolaev, Zaporizhia and Kirovohrad regions.
