In Kherson region, law enforcement officers blocked the interregional channel of marijuana sales and detained five people
Two brothers organized the drug business. Hemp plants were grown, processed and the finished drug was sold in bulk to other regions of Ukraine and in the territory of Novaya Kakhovka.
To do this, they hired a garage where the group members processed cannabis plants into marijuana, packaged the “merchandise” and packaged it in zip bags, which were later transferred for sale.
In their criminal activities, they involved eleven more persons aged 18 to 33 years who were engaged in the petty sale of marijuana to drug-addicted residents of Novaya Kakhovka. The group of applicants was detained by the operatives of the Strategic Investigation Department together with the detectives of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police Department, with the strong support of a special purpose police company.
In addition, about 30 searches were carried out on the places of residence of the defendants. Seized a large amount of marijuana, cannabis extract, weapons, cartridges, “rough” order records, cars, money obtained by criminal means.
Two organizers and three other members of the group were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Qualification:
- according to Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives);
- Part 3 of Article 307 (illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychedelics tropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for detainees is being resolved. Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the regional prosecutor's office.
