Round table on anti-corruption issues was held in Lviv

About a hundred scientists and practitioners took part in the communication event on anti-corruption topics. In particular, representatives of the Department for the Prevention of Corruption and Lustration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, the State Emergency Service and the State Emergency Service, the Western Territorial Department of the National Guard and the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Service, regional service centers, territorial medical associations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, scientific and expert researchers forensic centers of the western regions.

Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs Volodymyr Martynenko noted that there are many questions related to corruption risks in the system of internal affairs, which are actively discussed by society.

“This encourages the ministry to respond to such issues and, accordingly, to build steps of interaction with the public towards their solution and creation of an effective mechanism for preventing corruption,” Volodymyr Martynenko said.

As emphasized by the rector of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs Roman Blaguta, regional roundtables on anti-corruption topics are on time.

“Such a social phenomenon as corruption needs urgent discussion. Such a format as a round table allows you to share positive experiences, understand trends and see prospects. And we are proud that our institution of higher education has become a platform for discussing not only scientific, but also practical issues regarding the activities of state bodies to prevent and prevent corruption,” the head of the departmental university stressed.

In turn, Anatoly Fodchuk, Head of the Department for Prevention of Corruption and Lustration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, noted that holding such events has already become a good tradition, as well as active involvement of public representatives in the discussion.

“This makes it possible directly, without intermediaries, to voice questions to representatives of the authorities, to express suggestions and comments,” Anatoly Fodchuk summed up.

The participants of the round table discussed the legal regulation and features of the activities of whistleblowers in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They touched on the problems of functioning of the authorities on the prevention and detection of corruption. It was also about the peculiarities of official inspections and internal investigations of corruption manifestations.

According to the results of the discussion, a number of recommendations were proposed, in particular on conducting an effective internal audit of integrity, which should become an integral part of the reform of the National Police of Ukraine. Participants also drew attention to the need to carry out appropriate monitoring and study of international experience in ensuring integrity in police activities. In addition, attention was focused on the importance of developing a “road map” to counteract and prevent corruption in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
