Today, August 28, a police helicopter of the Ministry of Internal Affairs from Vinnitsa to the capital managed to quickly deliver the live heart of a 38-year-old donor, who died from an accident, for transplantation to a 12-year-old girl. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky.

“A heart transplant operation has just been completed on a 12-year-old girl who would have lost her life if the organ was not delivered in time. Her heart is already beating in her chest! Within the framework of the joint aeromedical evacuation project with the Ministry of Health today, the donor heart was sent to Kiev by Airbus Helicopters H-145 police helicopter from Vinnitsa in just 50 minutes,” the Minister of Internal Affairs informed.

Denis Monastyrsky noted that kidneys and liver from the same 38-year-old Vinnytsia donor accompanied by patrol police were urgently brought to Kiev for transplantation to patients of other hospitals.

“Two kidneys will be transplanted today to girls aged 12 and 17. Another 17-year-old girl, who has been in critical condition in intensive care for about a month, will receive the liver,” he said.

Denis Monastyrsky stressed that currently together with Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working to ensure that each of the 7 million Ukrainians registered in the application “Diia” can in a few taps on the screen smartphone to give voluntary consent to become a donor.
