For 9 months of 2021, the police sent 17 criminal proceedings in crimes against journalists to the court — Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine
According to Art. 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Obstruction of Lawful Professional Activities of Journalists) — 11. Namely: Odessa region — 3, m. Kyiv, Volyn and Dnipropetrovsk regions by 2, Lviv and Kharkiv regions by 1. According to Art. 345-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (threat or violence against a journalist) — 6. In particular, in the Poltava region — 2, in the city. Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Lviv and Cherkasy regions by 1.
During 2021, the National Police registered 158 criminal proceedings, of which: 113 - Art. 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Obstruction of Lawful Professional Activities of Journalists), 38 - Art. 345-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (threat or violence against a journalist), 7 - Art. 347-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional destruction or damage to the property of a journalist).
As of September 30, the police are investigating 172 criminal proceedings (taking into account cases initiated in previous years). In addition, during 2021, two criminal offenses were reported to persons on suspicion. 69 criminal offenses were closed, the pre-trial investigation of which was started in 2021, and 57 in previous years. The decision to close was agreed with the prosecutor's office.
