Kyiv law enforcement officers started criminal proceedings on obstruction of journalistic activity
Currently, law enforcement officers are carrying out the necessary investigative actions for an objective and impartial pre-trial investigation.
Yesterday, during a live broadcast on one of the TV channels, an incident was revealed where citizens pushed a representative of the media out of the event. Immediately after the specified event, the management of the capital chapter initiated an audit.
The collected information on this fact is included in the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations. The Investigation Department of the Shevchenko Police Department initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Obstruction of the legitimate professional activity of journalists. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of a fine of up to fifty taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to three years.
Currently, the police find out all the circumstances of the crime and carry out the necessary investigative actions for an objective and impartial pre-trial investigation.
