Internal security of the National Police detained a lawyer from Vinnytsia who promised a suspended sentence to the suspect for 15 thousand dollars
For assistance in resolving the issue of mitigating the sentence for the crime committed, one of the lawyers of Vinnitsa asked for a reward from the defendant. He apparently had to give the bribe to the judge.
The Vinnytsia Department of Internal Security of NPU provides prompt support of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 4 of Article 27, Part 3 of Art. 369 (Offer, promise or provision of unlawful benefits to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. As part of the proceedings, it was established that the 44-year-old lawyer of a man suspected of selling drugs incited him to provide illegal benefits — 15 thousand US dollars.
For this amount, the defender promised to agree with the judge on the sentencing in a milder form - from real imprisonment to a suspended sentence.
Internal security officers of the NPU together with the SBU documented the receipt of the above funds in several stages. On receipt of the last part of the bribe - 10.5 thousand US dollars - the lawyer was detained. Conducted authorized searches.
At present, the investigators of the TU SBI, located in the city of Khmelnytskyi, under the procedural guidance of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, are preparing to hand him a suspicion. A petition for the election of a preventive measure has been submitted to the court. For inciting the provision of improper benefits to an official, a detainee may be threatened with imprisonment for a term of four to eight years.
