In Chernivtsi, operatives exposed a group of drug dealers
Drug applicants - 8 residents of the regional center, established a scheme for the sale of prohibited substances during personal meetings with “clients”. In the assortment of prohibited - amphetamine, cannabis, hashish, ecstasy pills and methadone. The total value of the seized is almost 700 thousand hryvnias.
The operatives of the department of combating drug crime in the Chernivtsi region together with the investigators of the police of the region exposed the illegal activity of the criminal group.
As law enforcement officials established, a 49-year-old resident of Chernivtsi, who was previously convicted of drug crimes, set up a “business”. He was responsible for packaging and marketing drugs and psychotropics and distributing the funds among all those involved. In total, the applicants were seven men — all of them residents of the regional center. Each of them had their own area of the city fixed, where they distributed amphetamine, cannabis, hashish, ecstasy pills and methadone. They sold “goods” according to the scheme “from hand to hand”. The cost of the dose was from 200 to 500 hryvnia. Payments were made in cash.
Police officers with the strong support of the KORD special unit fighters detained the leader and all members of the group. According to the results of searches of the places of residence of the defendants and in their vehicles, law enforcement officers seized a kilogram of amphetamine, almost a kilogram of cannabis, half a kilogram of hashish, ecstasy pills and methadone, money and electronic scales.
The organizer and two other accomplices were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They have already been informed of the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Two of them chose a precautionary measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 190 thousand hryvnias, another - house arrest.
After the completion of all procedural measures, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of other members of the group. For the sale of drugs and psychotropics, offenders face imprisonment for a term of six to ten years with confiscation of property. Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Chernivtsi District Prosecutor's Office.
