Recently, the border guards of the Izmail detachment resumed joint patrols of the state border on the Danube River with units of the Constanta Coast Guard of the Romanian Border Police.

During this week, patrols took place at the sections of the border service departments “Reni” and “Vylkove”. Joint events were held on Ukrainian border boats in compliance with quarantine rules. According to the results of the service, no violations of the law were detected.

It should be recalled that the practice of joint patrols has been introduced since October 2017 within the framework of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Romania on joint patrolling of the Ukrainian-Romanian state border and the protocol of the border agencies of both states. However, it was suspended due to the pandemic.

These patrols make it possible to more effectively counteract organized criminal activity, respond promptly to attempts by violators to cross the border illegally and transport contraband goods. In addition, they allow you to save personnel, transport, technical, fuel resources, etc. Also, thanks to such events, the exchange of experience in the field of ensuring the protection of the state border is carried out.

It should be noted that patrolling is carried out near the common state border and can be implemented using boats, vehicles of the country on the territory of which joint patrolling is carried out. Border guards who carry out their activities in the territory of another state have the same legal status as border guards of the host party.
