The spread of criminal influence and drug sales in the Kyiv Detention Center: The National Police exposed the “spy” and his accomplices
The organized criminal group included persons detained in detention centers and residents of several regions. On July 28, the police informed the organizer and five accomplices about the suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department together with the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine exposed the illegal activities of the group with the assistance and participation of the administration and the operational department of the State Department “Kyiv Investigative Isolator”.
The police found that a 30-year-old convicted of murdering a child due to connections in criminal circles received the status of a so-called “spy” in prison. Using authority among dependents, organized the activities of the group. It includes detainees and residents of several areas. They “specialized” in the supply and sale of narcotic and psychotropic substances to the special institution through “transfers”. Each of the participants had clearly defined roles in criminal activity. Part of the received funds was spent by the participants on the development of the “business”, the rest - on the replenishment of the “public sector”.
On Wednesday, July 28, the police conducted authorized searches of the places of residence of the defendants, vehicles, as well as administrative premises of the State Administration “Kyiv Investigative Isolator”. The event was held on the territory of Kyiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Mykolaiv and Poltava regions. According to their results, notebooks with records of the movement of funds for the “thieving community”, drugs and other prohibited things were seized.
In addition, the “spyglass” and his accomplices were informed of the suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or marketing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues (Part 3 of Art. 307);
- Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, transportation, shipment, storage for the purpose of marketing or marketing poisonous or potent substances or poisonous or potent medicinal products (part 4 of Art. 321).
“Smotryashchi” under the detention center is also criminalized for the establishment and dissemination of criminal influence (Part 2 of Art. 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Procedural guidance in the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Office of the Prosecutor General. The investigation continues.
