The units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system are ready to ensure public security during the events on May 8 and 9 — Serhiy Yarovyi
This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Yarovyi during a selective interdepartmental meeting. Sergey Yarovyi noted that on May 8 and 9, events will be held in the state in honor of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, as well as the 76th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in the Second World War.
He stressed the need for full cooperation of all units of the National Police, the National Guard and the State Emergency Service involved in ensuring security during the specified activities.
“These days, many events are planned in the state, including laying flowers, walks and car rides. Therefore, I draw attention to the tolerance, endurance, professionalism of law enforcement officers when performing tasks in different locations,” Serhiy Yarovyi said.
The First Deputy Minister noted that staff of operational services, rapid response teams of patrol police, dialogue police, patrol police, dog experts, explosives technicians and investigative and operational teams will be involved in the service.
“And I draw attention: the work of the situational headquarters should be organized around the clock, so that we can quickly make decisions in case of a change in the operational situation,” Serhiy Yarovyi stressed.
The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko noted that every police officer during his service is aimed at carrying out preventive work: “I emphasize that tolerance should be in the first place in our country. We must ensure not only unconditional compliance with the law, but also the safety of citizens and every police officer. Therefore, next to the dialogue police there should be other police officers who will be able to level any conflict situation in time,” Igor Klymenko stressed.
At the same time, the Head of the National Police noted that the efforts of the police will be directed to control the use of prohibited symbols.
Deputy Head of the National Police Oleksandr Fatsevich noted that 341 events with the participation of more than 13,000 citizens are planned in the state on May 8. The order will be monitored by more than 2,000 policemen, servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine, employees of the State Emergency Service and cadets of departmental institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And on May 9, 555 events are expected to be held, in which more than 60 thousand citizens will participate.
“In each region there is an understanding between all services. In order to ensure the safety of all participants in the events, more than 11,000 law enforcement officers will be involved in the protection of law and order: 7,300 policemen, 3,000 servicemen of the National Guard and the State Emergency Service, as well as cadets of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” Oleksandr Facevych said.
Also, the Deputy Head of the National Police noted that from May 9 to 11 there will be memorial days, so many citizens will go to cemeteries. Therefore, on the roads of state and local importance, patrol police uniforms will work intensively.
At the same time, the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko said that Kiev police officers are already serving in a strengthened mode.
“This morning, the police stepped in to protect public order in the places where the events will take place. Also, round-the-clock outfits will be displayed near all memorials, stelae, monuments and burial sites. In addition, all locations where events will take place and routes will be examined by dog handlers and explosives technicians,” Andriy Kryshchenko said.
Representatives of the National Guard and the State Emergency Service confirmed the readiness of personnel to serve these days.
Earlier, the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Yarovyi stated that Easter night took place calmly and without disturbances, in addition, law enforcement officers ensured public safety and order during commemorative events in Odessa.
