In Zhytomyr region, law enforcement officers stopped the activities of a powerful drug group
On November 30, the detectives of the SU GUNP, together with the staff of the USBU in the region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office of the region, detained three active participants of the criminal group. Two laboratories for the manufacture of amphetamine have been suspended. In the course of a series of searches, a psychotropic agent, equipment and ingredients for its manufacture, and other evidence of criminal acts were seized.
According to available information, the group's activities reached up to half a million hryvnias per month.
The criminal group included 3 people: Zhytomyrans, aged 28 to 40 years. They organized the production process in a house located in Zhytomyr district and in a garage on the outskirts of the city. Everything necessary was ordered through Internet resources and received through postal services.
During the documentation of criminal activities, police investigators and employees of the USBU recorded repeated facts of the sale of manufactured amphetamine, including wholesale batches. Every month, up to one and a half kilograms of psychotropic substances were produced in laboratories that operated for at least 8-9 months.
On November 30, after the arrest of the members of the group, 12 searches were carried out: for their places of residence and possible commission of illegal actions. As a result, synthesized amphetamine, precursors, chemicals, equipment, specific utensils, cash, bank cards and rough “accounting” were recovered.
During one of the searches, in a garage on the outskirts of Zhytomyr, an F-1 grenade, cartridges and a traumatic pistol were also found.
So far, investigators have detained three men as part of Art. 208 (Detention by an authorized official) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Pre-trial investigation is carried out under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Therefore, detainees, two of whom have already been sentenced for such acts, may face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 6 to 10 years with confiscation of property.
Criminal proceedings have also been opened on the grounds of the offense provided for in Art. 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
