In Khmelnytskyi Oblast, a court sentenced a businessman for violence against a journalist

The Starokonstantinovsky district court found the man guilty of committing the crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 345-1 (Threat or violence against a journalist) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The convict was given a sentence in the form of 2 years in prison, exempted from serving a sentence with probation. Also, the court ordered him to compensate the victim for moral damage.

In March 2020, the victim, together with the operator on an editorial assignment, filmed in the city. He wrote material about the course of quarantine and the state of trade in medical drugs and personal protective equipment.

In one of the stores, a conflict arose between the journalist and the entrepreneur due to the question of the origin and documents for the medical masks that were sold there. During the argument, the convict began to twist her arm, causing bodily harm.

Recently, the Starokostiantynivsky District Court completed the consideration of the criminal proceedings and found the suspect guilty of violence against the journalist and sentenced him to 2 years in prison, releasing him from real imprisonment with a probation period. The court also ordered the man to compensate the victim 20 thousand hryvnias for moral damage, half of which he paid during the investigation.
