Two residents of the Carpathian region will be tried in Lviv region for using fake COVID certificates

Three more citizens, residents of Lviv and Chernivtsi regions, were informed by police officers of Lviv region about suspicion of complicity in falsification of documents and use of knowingly forged certificates.

At the checkpoint “Rava-Ruska - Grebene”, moving to enter Ukraine from the Republic of Poland, during the verification of documents, a 20-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region presented an international vaccination certificate with signs of forgery. A fake vaccination certificate was also found in a 35-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

As the investigators of the police department No. 2 of the Lviv district police department No. 1 established, the men found vaccination certificate forms on the Internet and entered their personal data into them. The police informed both of the suspicion of committing criminal offenses provided for in Part 1 and Part 4 of Article 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided for by the sanctions of the articles is the restriction of freedom for a period of up to two years.

Pre-trial investigations are completed, the indictments are directed to the court.

In addition, the investigators of the Yavorivsky district police department reported the suspicion to three citizens in whom fake vaccination certificates were found. So, on October 19, residents of Lviv, a 50-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man, while at the checkpoint “Hrushiv - Budomizh”, presented a certificate with signs of forgery during the verification of documents. A fake certificate was also found in a 29-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region.

The woman is notified of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 358 (Use of a knowingly forged document) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, while the men are suspected of committing criminal offenses provided for in Part 5 of Article 27 - Part 1, Part 4 of Art. 358 (Assistance in forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided for by the sanctions of the articles is the restriction of freedom for a period of up to two years.

Pre-trial investigations are ongoing.
