In Luhansk region, cyber police exposed a “scheme” of manufacturing fake PCR tests for Covid-19

For 500 hryvnias, the defendant offered to purchase a certificate with a negative result on Covid-19. Every month, he faked about 300 tests.

The illegal activities of the 49-year-old native of Armenia were exposed by the cyber police of Luhansk region together with employees of the Shchastin district police department and representatives of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

The defendant on the Internet offered services for the production of certificates with a negative result on Covid-19. He sold forged documents to residents of the temporarily occupied territories for the crossing of the checkpoint “Stanytsia Luhanska”. Service customers did not undergo any laboratory studies, but only provided their data for registration.

The cost of the fake test was 500 hryvnia. Every month, the man made about 300 PCR tests. The profit from the fraudulent scheme amounted to 150 thousand hryvnias per month.

Law enforcement officers conducted a search at the place of residence of the defendant. According to the results, they seized computer equipment, a flash drive, a car, a certificate of a negative PCR test, incomplete PCR test forms, copies of passports and “rough” records.

According to this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Art. 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions continue.
