In Luhansk region, police officers were exposed in the organization of a system of “kickbacks” of officials of one of the regional boarding houses for the elderly and persons with disabilities
The director, the authorized person for public procurement and the head of the institution's economy were detained after receiving an illegal benefit, which they managed to divide among themselves.
Persons involved in extorting “kickbacks” from entrepreneurs of the region were exposed by the operatives of the Strategic Investigation Department in the Luhansk region and investigators of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police.
So, for concluding contracts for the purchase of personal hygiene products for the needs of the hospital and timely payment for the delivered goods, they demanded a “rollback”. The amount of “remuneration” amounted to a third of the total amount of concluded contracts.
Yesterday, March 23, after receiving a “kickback” in the amount of 40 thousand hryvnias and distribution of funds among themselves, law enforcement officers detained all defendants.
All officials were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, they were informed of suspicion. Their actions are qualified under Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment — imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The issue of choosing preventive measures for suspects is being resolved.
