The illegal “business” was organized by the owner of the pharmacy network together with three pharmacists. They set up a marketing scheme for drugs containing codeine and pseudoephedrine without the necessary prescription with the recommendation of a doctor. Their illegal activities were stopped by the police in April this year. The pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceedings is completed, the indictment is sent for consideration to the court.

Operatives of the Department of Combating Drug Crimes in Donetsk Oblast together with regional police detectives established that the 48-year-old owner of one of the pharmacy network organized a “scheme” of distribution of drug-containing drugs in pharmacies in Pokrovsk city. He involved three more pharmacists, 25, 56 and 62 years old, including the daughter of an entrepreneur. The attackers sold drugs that contain codeine and pseudoephedrine without a doctor's prescription.

Then, during the authorized searches, law enforcement officers seized more than 15,000 blisters and packages of medical drugs, amounting to about 151 000 doses, as well as money in the amount of more than 1.1 million hryvnias, accounting logs, drafts and other documentation, mobile phones with SIM cards, system blocks and other media.

The total value of the seized property at “black market” prices is about 760 thousand hryvnias.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is completed, the indictment is sent to the court.

The actions of the organizer and the three participants are qualified according to Part 3 of Art. 28 (Committing a criminal offense by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, organized group or criminal organization) and Part 1, 2 of Art. 320 (Violation of the established rules for the circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
