Another participant of a large-scale drug syndicate was detained in the Dnipropetrovsk region
The man was informed of the suspicion and a precautionary measure was chosen in the form of detention without the right to make bail. At the moment, 17 people have been notified of suspicion, of which 15 have been selected for preventive measures in the form of detention without the right to post bail.
In August 2021, police conducted the first stage of a special operation and discovered cannabis plantations. The attackers built a greenhouse in 6 sections with a total area of 2,700 square meters and equipped it with a special irrigation system. The land plot was issued for one of the participants. Then law enforcement officers detained one person, seized more than 10,000 cannabis bushes and ready-to-market products worth 130 million hryvnias.
Then the police detained 14 people who were engaged in the cultivation of hemp on an industrial scale for the further sale of “goods” in the territory of Kryvyi Rih. In addition, they were engaged in the sale of methamphetamine. The special operation involved 200 law enforcement officers — operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations, investigators, fighters of the special unit KORD and DSR.
At the same time, 43 sanctioned searches were carried out and narcotic and psychotropic substances, weapons, ammunition, money, cars, special equipment to detect and neutralize the means of surveillance were seized. The total value of the seized property is more than UAH 10 million.
Documentation of illegal activities of the group was carried out for almost a year. The structure of the organization consisted of several separate units, the participants of which were residents of Kryvyi Rih and settlements close to the city. Roles and hierarchy were clearly distributed between them.
The defendants were informed of suspicions under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- parts 1 and 2 of article 255 (creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it);
- part 3 of article 27, part 4 of article 28, part 3 of article 307 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues);
- part 3 of art. 27, part 4 of article 28, part 3 of article 310 (sowing or cultivation of dreamy poppy or hemp).
On Tuesday, December 7, another member of the criminal organization was detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and reported suspicion under part 2 of article 255, part 4 of article 28, part 3 of article. 307 KKU.
On December 8, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to make bail.
Also, another of the defendants, the court changed the precautionary measure from house arrest to detention without the right to make bail.
In total, 17 drug syndicate members were reported suspected, of which the 15th chose a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to make bail.
Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. The investigation is ongoing.
