In Dnipropetrovsk region, police discovered a plantation with hemp
Almost 7 thousand bushes worth 13 million hryvnias grew in the field among sunflowers on the territory of Krinichansky district.
During the operation “MAK” on August 28, police departments for combating drug crime of the DBN, employees of the UMAZ Air Support Department of the DPP of Ukraine together with the Investigative Department of Police No. 6 of Kamensky RUP conducted an aerial reconnaissance of a land plot of 175 hectares located between villages in Krinichansk district of Dnipropetrovsk Vovsk region. In the course of the survey, they found cultivated and well-groomed cannabis with signs of cultivation between the sunflowers.
Samples of drug-containing plants were sent for examination. At black market prices, their value is more than 13.5 million hryvnias.
The police have now established the owner of the land. After receiving the results of the examination, the issue of opening criminal proceedings under Art. 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sowing or growing dreamy poppy or hemp). Measures are being taken to identify persons involved in the planting and cultivation of drug-containing plants.
Recall that by current legislation, illegal sowing or cultivation of cannabis with a number of fifty or more plants is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
