Drug syndicate activities were liquidated in Dnipropetrovsk region
Detained 14 members of a criminal organization engaged in the cultivation of hemp on an industrial scale for the further sale of “goods” in the territory of Kryvyi Rih. In addition, they were engaged in the sale of methamphetamine. Yesterday, November 30, the police conducted the final stage of the special operation, in which 200 law enforcement officers were involved.
The activities of the participants of the criminal organization were exposed and documented by the operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Dnipropetrovsk region together with the investigators of the regional police. Documenting the illegal activities of the group was carried out for almost a year - and law enforcement officers managed to establish the places of cultivation of narcotic plants, methods of sale and each of its participants.
As the operatives established, the structure of the organization consisted of several separate units, the participants of which were residents of Kryvyi Rih and settlements close to the city. The roles were clearly divided between them. The hierarchy was built as follows: the leader of the criminal organization, his confidants, the curators of its individual sections, suppliers, salespeople and other “employees”.
In August of this year, the police conducted the first phase of a special operation, as a result of which they discovered hemp plantations. On the territory of one of the households, the intruders built a greenhouse of 6 sections with a total area of 2700 square meters and installed a special irrigation system. The land plot was issued for one of the participants. A few more tended the plants and guarded the area. Then law enforcement officers detained one person, seized more than 10 thousand cannabis bushes and ready-to-market products for 130 million UAH.
Yesterday, November 30, they held the final stage of a special operation, in which 200 law enforcement officers were involved — operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department, investigators, special forces CORD and DSR. According to the results of its conduct, 14 participants of the criminal organization were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Detainees and two other defendants were informed of suspicions under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- parts 1 and 2 of article 255 (creation, leadership of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it); - part 3 of article 27, part 4 of article 28, part 3 of article 307 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or marketing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues);
- part 3 of article 27, part 4 of article 28, part 3 of article 310 (sowing or cultivation of dreamy poppy or hemp).
Concurrently conducted 43 sanctioned searches and seized narcotic and psychotropic substances, weapons, ammunition, money, cars, special equipment to detect and neutralize the means of surveillance. The total value of the seized property is more than UAH 10 million.
The issue of choosing preventive measures for suspects is being resolved. Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. The investigation is ongoing.
