Soldiers of the Special Operations Department of the Mariupol Marine Guard conducted joint training with the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on parachuting from helicopters into the Sea of Azov. Fifteen well-trained special forces officers practiced jumping without a parachute into the open sea from a helicopter flying at an altitude of 3 to 5 meters.

It was not for the first time that maritime border guards practiced parachute-free landing. Previously, training sessions were held in the Black Sea, in the area of the Tendrivska spit. But in Azov, in the area of the Joint Forces, the Special Operations Department conducted such training for the first time.

“The Sea of Azov has its own characteristics: specific depths, opacity of water, currents, winds, excitement of the sea. And all these factors directly affect the quality of execution of such a landing. We realize that we must be ready for a wide variety of actions, to be able to quickly and effectively counter an enemy that does not shy away from the most insidious actions and provocations. Therefore, we are working out the widest range of possible ways to ensure the fulfillment of the task of counteracting sabotage groups, unlocking seized objects and so on,” says the commander of the group of maritime border guards Vyacheslav.

The second part of the training involved working out a simulation of a rescue operation with the evacuation of people in need of assistance on the high seas. Descending from a helicopter on a special launcher, the servicemen lifted each other out of the water, working out situations with both an active person opposing the sea elements and with an imitation of a weakened or injured victim.

Thanks to the logistical and technical assistance of the American partners in the EXBS Program, the special units of the Marine Guard are provided with modern diving and evacuation and lifting equipment and equipment to perform such tasks comfortably, efficiently and safely, both during training and in real conditions.

Such joint exercises of the Special Operations Division of the Mariupol Marine Guard Detachment with the units of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces in the Joint Forces of Ukraine are planned to be carried out regularly, because this gives a good opportunity to develop, exchange experience and ensures a high level of combat training of special purpose units.
