Cyberpolice exposed the developer of the fake application “Action”

The defendant created software that completely copied the design of the state application “Action”. With it, users were able to create fake documents. The offender can face up to six years in prison.

The illegal activities of the 21-year-old man were exposed by the officers of the department of combating cybercrime in Zaporizhzhya region together with investigators of the Zaporizhzhya district police department and in cooperation with representatives of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

The attacker himself developed an application for smartphones, which was identical in design to the state application “Diia”. In the fake program, users were given the opportunity to create any document for themselves from those presented in the official software. In particular, users could change their age, add any photo or fake a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19.

The man sold his development in the messenger for 100 hryvnia, and in the advertisement indicated that thanks to the application, minors can freely buy alcohol and cigarettes.

Currently, law enforcement agencies are taking measures to block all channels of distribution of the fake application. The persons who purchased the application to provide legal qualification to their actions are also identified.

In the residence of the accused, law enforcement officers conducted searches. Mobile phones, computer equipment and bank cards have been removed.

Criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 361 (Unauthorized interference in the operation of computers, automated systems, computer networks or telecommunication networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to six years in prison. Investigative actions continue.

Procedural management is carried out by the Voznesenivska District Prosecutor's Office of Zaporizhia.
