Andriy Kryshchenko: The man who shot at policemen was detained by special agents after his threats to set fire to the apartment and open fire
The special operation was carried out by KORD fighters. No one was hurt during the assault. Law enforcement officers establish all the circumstances of the incident.
A resident of the capital called the police, but refused to open the door and during communication he shot with a hunting rifle. As a result, a patrolman received a gunshot wound to his hand, and a civilian - a facial injury. The victims were hospitalized in the hospital, and at the scene, law enforcement officers successfully conducted a special police operation to detain the attacker.
Recall that the patrol police officers went to a call about the conflict in the apartment on Holosiivskyi Avenue. When the outfit arrived at the address, the owner of the property refused to open the door and fired a shotgun in the direction of the police officers.
As a result of the incident, one law enforcement officer received a gunshot wound to his arm, and a civilian - a facial injury. After that, the intruder locked himself in the apartment and began to threaten to set it on fire. The heads of the National Police, the Main and District Departments of the Police, the investigative and operational teams, as well as specialized services immediately went to the scene.
According to the chief of police of Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko, after providing first aid, doctors hospitalized the victims in the hospital, and law enforcement officers introduced a special police operation in the capital to detain the attacker and began negotiations with him.
“While the negotiations were going on, we evacuated the residents of the house and fenced off the territory, closed the gas valves, in order to protect the citizens as much as possible. However, the man categorically refused to leave the room and subsequently began to threaten to re-open fire or set fire to the apartment. Given these circumstances, as well as the fact that the smell of gasoline was heard, we made the decision to launch an assault operation.”
With the strong support of the special officers of the KORDU, the attacker was detained and taken to the district police department. No one was injured directly during the assault. After that, an additional inspection of the building was carried out by employees of the explosives service.
“The man was in talks for more than an hour, explaining to him that he had already drunk, as well as the consequences of non-compliance with the demands of the police. Information about the incident was entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Article 348 (Invasion of the life of a law enforcement officer, a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border or a serviceman) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the sanction of which provides from nine to fifteen years or life imprisonment”, - summed up Andrey Kryshchenko, who was at the scene.
