The project deals with the supply of medical equipment and protective military non-lethal equipment. The assistance will be provided by the Central Clinical Hospital of the SBGS, the Clinical Hospital of the SBGS in Odessa and a separate commandant's office for the provision and security of the SBGS.
This was discussed today, September 5, during a working meeting between Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, Head of the State Border Guard Service Petro Tsygycal and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Roman Waschuk.
Arsen Avakov thanked the Canadian Government for their support, which they provided in a difficult time for Ukraine.
«I am grateful to the Canadian side for the material and moral support they have provided us since the beginning of hostilities», - the Minister of Interior said.
Arsen Avakov recalled that in March 2016 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada for the purpose of cooperation in the field of strengthening security and stability in Ukraine.
«The memorandum provides assistance worth 2 million CAD, which will be spent on the supply of medical equipment and protective military non-lethal equipment», ‑ the minister said.
In turn, Petro Tsygycal said that within the Memorandum Odessa Clinical Hospital received first aid in April.
«We are grateful to the Canadian Government for their support. Odessa Clinical Hospital received an ultra-modern X-ray unit that helps to treat wounded border guards. This equipment costs more than 6 million hryvnas. And this meeting again confirms our consistent work», ‑ said the Head of the State Border Guard Service.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk emphasized that the Canadian side positively evaluates the progress of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reform and will continue to help to strengthen the border security.
