Police reform is a priority of Ukraine-Canada cooperation in the field of security (PHOTOS)

It was discussed during the meeting of the Ukrainian delegation led by President Petro Poroshenko, with the participation of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, which took place on September 22, 2017, in Toronto, Canada.

According to the head of the MIA, the meeting in Toronto was meaningful and productive. The Canadian side expressed its readiness to continue cooperation in the transformation and reform of the internal affairs system, primarily regarding continuing and expanding the reform of the National Police of Ukraine.

Arsen Avakov thanked the Canadian government for its consistent position and support of the reform.

During previous working visits of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov to Canada, an agreement was reached that the Government of Canada would provide CAD 8.1 million in 2017 for the development of the Ukrainian police.

On September 25, 2017, Canadian colleagues - representatives of the volunteer mission Firefighter Aid to UA with the support of the international charitable network "Rotary Club”   handed over to the staff of the SES Main Directorate in the Kiev region fire-fighters uniforms and fire-service equipment.  Shortly, the Canadian side will transfer to the State Border Service of Ukraine medical equipment and outfit worth CAD 2 million.
