Canada would continue supporting the reformation of law enforcement agencies in Ukraine (PHOTOS)

Deputy Ministry in questions of European integration Anastasia Deeva met with Canadian delegation, headed by the representative of the consultative body by Prime Minister of Canada Adam Tereszkovsky. The Sides discussed the process of reformation of law-enforcement bodies, supporting this process by Canada, future perspectives of Ministry’s development and cooperation.

The report on the realization of mutual projects of MIA Ukraine and Canada’s Government was reviewed during the meeting. Besides the technical assistance, Canadian partners have financed the professional preparation of almost 10 thousands of cadets of patrol police in 32 cities of the country. By Canadian specialists’ assistance, 138 instructors in tactic disciplines were prepared as well as 54 commanders of the highest echelon who had the studying course for the management staff. Attention was also dragged to the implementation of principal «Police and community», that provides a high level of people’s trust to police.

By the support of Canadian project, the research of people’s opinion was provided, the official patrol-police web site was developed, media-trainings were made, and other resources for activity’s providing of communication services of patrol police were provided. 

«The reform of law-enforcement system would not be so successful without expert and technical support of foreign partners which became one of the moving powers in a process of quality changes of civil security’s sector of Ukraine », – said Anastasia Deeva.

The Canadian delegation assured the Ukrainian Side in further multilateral support of reformation processes. The plans include modernization of material-technical base and professional resources, improvement of centers of preparation of police officers, development of the professional police level. Special efforts will be directed to increase the professional level of police management staff of different levels and improvement of the standards of tactical preparation of personnel. Among this, deepening of the cooperation between the police and society is planned. Financing several projects, the goal of which is to improve the level of security of local communities, is provided for this.

At the end of the meeting, the Canadian colleges reviewed new perspective directions of development – with reformation process of Ukrainian state service of emergencies and creation of the MIA service centers.
