On April 17, the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA has hosted a presentation of the English and Ukrainian edition of the book "Dobrobaty. The history of the battalions’ feats that saved the country. " The book outlines the events of 2014-2015, when a system of volunteer units was created for armed resistance to the Russian hybrid aggression within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The presentation was attended by Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the USA Valerii Chalyi, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs off Ukraine Oleksiy Takhtay, First Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Vyacheslav Abroskin, People's Deputy Anton Gerashchenko, Adviser to the Minister Yevhen Terekhov, representatives of Ukrainian public and volunteer organizations in the USA.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the fourth consecutive year Ukraine is defending its independence in confrontation with the insidious hybrid aggression of Russia, which contrary to international law, has annexed the Crimea and Donbas occupied part. At the price of thousands of Ukrainian citizens’ lives, we are in fact protecting the peace and democratic values of Western civilization from the cynical neo-imperial policy of our eastern neighbor.

"This is a difficult and exhausting struggle of Ukraine. We are grateful to the international community for the powerful support of our state on the world stage. Precisely such unity enables to substantially restrain aggressive appetites of the Russian aggressor. We are grateful to every foreign citizen, and especially to the representatives of the numerous Ukrainian diaspora in the USA, for the help they have provided to restore the defense capacity of our country. Believe me, every dollar or euro transferred by the Ukrainian volunteer organizations, each unit of equipment, clothing and ammunition sent in fighting Ukrainian units on the Donbas front, each of the delivered speeches or adopted by the international community resolutions on Ukraine is a real help in protecting the civilized democratic Europe and free western world”, the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

The "Dobrobat" project is more than 30 memoirs from key participants in the events of that time of the military-political leadership of Ukraine, commanders of personnel military formations, newly formed volunteer units, politicians, volunteers, journalists, public figures and ordinary fighters.

The book was published in 2016 with a circulation of more than 10,000 copies, large part of which was presented to the direct participants in those events and the families of the dead. The publication was presented at the Lviv and Kyiv Book forums, at the St. Vladimir Institute in Toronto.

During the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine also has presented a documentary film "Ukraine - 100 days over a precipice".

The film is about a 100-day period from 22 February to 25 May 2014, when Ukraine had been left without a President, all branches of government had become paralyzed, army and law enforcement system had appeared incompetent, and the country had been on the brink of a full-scale war.

Arsen Avakov has conferred a MIA of Ukraine decoration on Ilona Derofler, Grigory Sayevich and Nadia Shaporinsk – the volunteers, who have helped the Ukrainian army from the first days of the ATO.
