The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has started a working visit to the United States of America. The meetings are planned with representatives of the US Department of State and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The events will also be attended by the First Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine - Chief of Criminal Police Vyacheslav Abroskin.
"Our visit will, of course, include both political issues and those relating to the activities of the MIA of Ukraine. The key point is the counteraction to the Russian hybrid war. We are ready to adopt the experience of many advanced countries, but in the matter of counteraction to the hybrid war of Russia, the whole world should learn from us. Secondly, strengthening in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigations in the fight against organized crime, in particular of Russian origin, and against its impact on processes in the world. It is very important, given the events in Salisbury, the chemical attacks on the peaceful population in Syria and interference in electoral processes and cyber threats", Arsen Avakov said.
The five-day visit program also includes visiting of a center where FBI agents are trained - the Quantyco Academy and a series of meetings on joint actions between US and Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in the fight against organized crime.
"This is the organized crime that operates in Ukraine under the influence of Russia. The goal is to destabilize the situation on the territory of Ukraine. This is why the Russian government is using "criminal lords" and other criminals who travel from Russia to Ukraine", Vyacheslav Abroskin said.
In addition, he said, that it is planned to sign the Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Police of Ukraine and the Drug Enforcement Administration of the Ministry of Justice of the USA.
Also, today, on April 15, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine laid flowers to the Holodomor Memorial to Victims of the Ukrainian Famine-Genocide of 1932–1933.
"It is very symbolic that the monument to the victims of the Holodomor in the United States is located next to the Capitol. It is extremely important that Ukraine’s sorrow for the dead and the memory of the crime will be shared throughout the world. It is very important that we begin our visit from this place", the Head of the MIA of Ukraine added.

In his turn, the Chairman of the National Committee on US Recognition of the Holodomor as Genocide Mikhail Sawkik said that the monument to the Holodomor victims of 1932-1933 was opened in Washington on November 7, 2015.
"This monument is a great symbol not only for the Ukrainian nation and our community in the US, but for the entire American people. This year, on the occasion of the 85th anniversary, we are doing everything to ensure that the US Senate, the House of Representatives, supports the resolution to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people ", Mikhail Sawkik said.
