During the official meeting, the parties discussed hybrid threats and agreed on cooperation between the cyber police units.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and the Minister for Home Affairs of Singapore Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam during an official meeting on October 29 in Singapore discussed hybrid threats in the modern world and agreed on cooperation between the cyber police units.

“We live in a world of hybrid threats. The trend of cybercrime, cyber threats in our country, as well as yours, is growing.We greatly increase the component in order to combat this category of crime. And we are very interested in partnership in all its manifestations,” - Arsen Avakov said.

Arsen Avakov stressed that Ukraine and Singapore are in similar situations - they have a big neighbor with a similar cultural and linguistic context: “But, you are not attacked in the same way as Ukraine. Unfortunately, during 5 years we have gained tremendous experience in combatingcyber-attacks as well. And it is very correct thatyou thoroughly prepare for possible threats, ranging from phishing attacks and to the proliferation of fake News and interference in the work of state institutions."

In turn, the Head of the National Police, Sergey Knyazev, stressed that one of the main elements in combating the hybrid war is cyber police: “This recently created unit shows excellent work results. In cyber police workwell-trained people who possess modern tools and are ready to respond to any hacker attack.”

The Head of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine Serhiy Demedyuk presented the work of the unit.

According to him, today the Ukrainian cyber police fruitfully cooperates with many international agencies and organizations of both the public and private sectors. As the result of the work in the “real time” mode, specialists can respond to existing cyber threats in a timely manner.

"Today, we have effective tools of interaction between units specialized in cybersecurity. Through this collaboration, we have already conducted more than a hundred international special operations, in the results of which have detained more than 30 hackers of international level ", - Serhiy Demedyuk said.

He also added that, as the result of information received from Australian colleagues, in July 2018, cyber police officers detained individuals, created and distributed online photos and videos of pornographic content with the participation of children. In addition, currently employees ofUkrainian cyber police are included in the international investigation team to investigate the cyber-attacks «NotPetya».

During the meeting, the parties issued a joint statement on in-depth cooperation in the field of security and agreed to explore possibilities for further development of interaction, cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of national security in order to combat terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybercrime, and traffickingin human beings.
