Arsen Avakov: Ukraine and Singapore will cooperate in combating financial fraud and develop migration policy (PHOTO)
This was discussed today, on October 29, during a meeting between the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and the Deputy Prime Minister for National Security Affairs of Singapore, Teo Chee Hean.
“With regard to hybrid threats, we see that for you, to combat them is just as important as fighting crimes in cyberspace. At the same time, Ukraine has a lot of experience and we are willing to share information. We, in turn, are interested in how you deal with the challenge of the criminal usage ofcryptocurrency. And we are interested in Singapore’s experience in the combating such financial fraud,” Arsen Avakov said.
He statedthat he didn’t see risks for both countries in the simplification of the visa regime with Singapore.
“We could develop our visa relationship and make it easier for citizens to visit each other. Considering the fact that our countries are very advanced in biometric control and we have a successful visa-free regime with all EU countries, it is time to take the next steps. I, as a Minister responsible for migration policy, among other things, I don’t see any risks for two parties here, I see only advantages,” Arsen Avakov said.
The Head of the MIA said that Singapore citizens that now the citizens of Singapore receive a visa upon arrival at the airport in the Ukraine:“For our citizens who want to visit Singapore, the situation is almost the same; without registration, they can be in Singapore for up to three days. And I think that it is possible to go further,” the Head of the MIA of Ukraine added.
Singapore has a population of 6 - 6.5 million people, and only during the last year at its border points has beenregistered more than 200 million crossings.
Earlier, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov had a meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs of Singapore K. Shanmugam, during which the parties discussed hybrid threats in the modern world and agreed on cooperation between the cyber police units.
