Practical safety measures taken by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine during a prolonged power outage have proven their effectiveness. This was stated by the Head of the Department of Organizational and Analytical Support and Operational Response of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksiy Sergeev at a briefing at the Military Media Center.

For the week, the authorities of the National Police recorded a 16% decrease in crime compared to the previous week. In total, 97.1 thousand reports of criminal offenses or events were registered.

“Thefts decreased by 7 percent, robberies by 3 percent, fraud and illegal possession of vehicles by a quarter,” Alexey Sergeyev said.

According to the speaker, patrol police uniforms in the event of traffic lights shutdown provide regulation at intersections with complex traffic organization:
“The number of traffic accidents decreased by 13 percent, the number of citizens injured as a result of an accident - by 22 percent, and fatalities - by 5 percent “.

Alexey Sergeev spoke about the organization of continuous operation of the special line “102” during Russian missile strikes and in the absence of power supply:

“For all our operators, workplaces in shelters are equipped, lines have been created for remote reception of citizens' calls. Each unit “102” is equipped with generators. In the absence of mobile communication in the region, special line 102 can be called from analog landlines,” the police spokesman said.

In addition, in the event of a large-scale power outage in regions or in individual settlements, the maximum number of joint patrols of the police, the National Guard and public formations is involved, the routes of which are close to the most important social facilities. In total, about 7 thousand police uniforms come into service every day in the state.

The speaker said that the police will inform citizens with the help of loudspeakers about the signals “Air alarm” or “Missile danger”. First of all, they will take care of such messages in settlements, districts, neighborhoods, close to critical infrastructure objects that may be targets of the enemy. Alexey Sergeyev once again stressed that citizens can get help in police stations during power outages:

“Territorial police units are equipped with generators, a large part — access to the Internet, as well as drinking water. Here you can warm up and charge gadgets.”

He also stressed that every citizen can contact the police outfit on the street or an individual police officer directly to report an offense or get help.
