The Metropolitan of the UOC (MP) of Cherkasy was reported on suspicion of inciting interreligious enmity
The subversive activities against Ukraine and the inciting of interreligious enmity on the part of the head of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC (MP) were exposed by the investigators of the Cherkasy Regional Police Department together with employees of the SBU in the Cherkasy region and under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office. This is not the first documented episode of the Metropolitan.
Earlier, the cleric, who incited interreligious enmity and denied the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, was already reported on suspicion. The materials of these cases by employees of the SBU are sent to the court.
Despite this, the Metropolitan continued to “inflate” interreligious enmity on his own Internet resource, spread among his own parishioners fakes of Kremlin propaganda about the events of last year in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Also in his sermons, the Metropolitan tried to discredit the clergy of other denominations and recorded destructive video messages on the official page of the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC (MP) on Facebook.
The semantic-linguistic and forensic psychological examinations initiated by law enforcement confirmed the illegal nature of the actions of the Cherkasy cleric.
On the basis of the collected evidence, this time the investigators of the Cherkasy district police department informed the 50-year-old defendant about another suspicion of art. 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of equality of citizens depending on their religious beliefs is committed by an official repeatedly).
At the moment, investigators and prosecutors have appealed to the court with a request to choose a more stringent preventive measure for the suspect. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The Metropolitan faces up to 8 years in prison.
