The Ministers of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia signed a declaration on strengthening and developing cooperation
The signing of a joint declaration will accelerate the restoration of peace and security in the European region.
Today, May 5, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky together with his colleagues visited the settlements of the Kiev region, which were subjected to large-scale shelling and war terror by the Russian invaders - the city. Irpin, s. Dmytrivka and the town of Gostomel.
Following the results of the working meeting, the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Poland jointly declared their desire to intensify and develop cooperation, in particular by:
• Strengthening efforts in the fight against cross-border crime, in particular, the organization of illegal transportation of persons across the state border, the fight against trafficking in human beings; • strengthening protection against criminal encroachments of citizens of Ukraine who have forcibly left the territory of Ukraine and are temporarily in the territory of the Member States of the European Union;
• assistance in the restoration of the war-damaged infrastructure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; • assistance to address priority needs
the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system in repelling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the exchange of experience in the areas of competence of the relevant Ministries.
Denis Monastyrsky expressed his gratitude to his colleagues who were the first to come to support Ukraine.
“Thank you for your courage, not only for coming to us, but also for helping Ukraine in this difficult time. The struggle continues, we face great challenges, which are connected both with the continuation and termination of this terrible war, and with the elimination of its consequences,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The joint declaration of ministers provides for cooperation in speeding up the investigation of war crimes committed by Russian servicemen in Ukraine. It is also possible to assist in those needs of our services and bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which cooperate directly with the services and bodies of the above countries, and other countries of the European Union. In addition, assistance with humanitarian demining is important.
“We understand that it will take years to demine the territories of Ukraine. Speed is key here. Because at the moment, both the weather and the time of year unfortunately complicate this process. And if we lose this time, we will also lose the opportunity to find explosive objects, which, unfortunately, will bring grief to Ukrainian homes for a very long time.
The Parties agreed to contribute to the creation of the necessary conditions for intensifying cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
It should be recalled that today the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky signed an order on the creation of the International Coordination Center on Humanitarian Demining, which will involve international teams of specialists from all EU countries and the entire Western world to help in the mining of more than 300 square kilometers of Ukrainian land.
