This was emphasized by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko during the Sports Forum of Veterans “Strong of Ukraine”, which was held at the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs.

Also at the forum were attended by representatives of the NGO “Federation of Strongmen of Ukraine”, local authorities, people's deputies and veterans.

During three panels, the participants of the event discussed current problems in the issue of rehabilitation of veterans, ways to solve them, prospects for rehabilitation through sports and building a veteran sports community.

“We must be prepared for the fact that there will be even more veterans in Ukraine, and we must create all the conditions for their comfortable life. It is about life in society as well as employment opportunities. Currently, a large number of servicemen who were wounded at the front are working in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko.

In particular, he told veterans about the possibility of working as operators in Service 112.

In turn, the First Deputy Chairman of the Odessa Regional State (Military) Administration Alexander Harlov informed those present about the work of the local authorities with veterans in the Odessa region:

“We continue to work with our international partners in the field of rehabilitation and we are trying to create all the conditions for Odessa to really become a southern hub for rehabilitation. At present, together with the National Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, we are implementing in the region the President's program for the employment of our servicemen who have been injured as a result of armed aggression and cannot perform their official duties in the security police.”

One part of socialization is the ability of the military to get behind the wheel again, despite serious injuries or amputations. Thus, on the basis of educational institutions of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, there are driving schools for persons with disabilities. Rector of Odessa State University of Internal Affairs Dmitry Shvets told in more detail about the work of one of these:

“With the support of the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko, a driving school for people with disabilities operates in every institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and our university is no exception. We have specially equipped cars and instructors who work with this category of people. In addition, we provide conditions for living while studying at a driving school.”

Also an important topic of the forum was the issue of the role of sport in the rehabilitation of veterans.

“I am very pleased that I personally was able to attend the “Strong of Ukraine” competitions, which were organized at the highest level for our heroes. Everyone present at the competitions is the carrier of the genetic code of the winners,” said Leonid Tymchenko.

Recall that the other day in Odessa there was a sports-inclusive event “Strong of Ukraine”. Among the participants were veterans from among the soldiers of the National Guard, the State Border Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who were wounded while performing official duties.
