SNS management took part in sectoral consultations with Polish partners on demining

Since the beginning of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has tripled the number of personnel of pyrotechnic units and received 33 mechanized demining machines.

This was told by t.v.o. Chairman of the State Emergency Service Volodymyr Demchuk during a speech at the bilateral sectoral consultations “Demining the Territory of Ukraine” held at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine.

The event was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Ukraine Jaroslav Guzy, representatives of international organizations, Polish companies and Ukrainian ministries and organizations involved in the demining process.

“Over these two years, thanks to the joint efforts of both the government of our country and international partners, the SNS has increased its capabilities several times. So, we increased the number of our sappers threefold, strengthened logistics capabilities — at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation we did not have a single mechanized demining machine, today we already have 33 machines that allow us to perform tasks efficiently, safely, qualitatively, quickly,” said Volodymyr Demchuk.

T.V.O. The head of the State Emergency Service reminded that the extent of contamination of the territory of Ukraine with explosive objects as a result of Russian military aggression is unprecedented.

He stressed that in order to create safe living conditions and conduct economic activities in the de-occupied territories, fire engines of the State Emergency Service are involved in demining work together with other representatives of the power unit and non-governmental operators.

According to him, before the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation, the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service numbered about 600 people, now the staff number of pyrotechnic calculations is about 1900 people.

Acting Chairman of the State Emergency Service thanked the Polish and all foreign partners for the assistance and support of Ukrainian rescuers during this difficult time.

“Without the help of our international partners, it would be extremely difficult to achieve the results we have now,” emphasized Volodymyr Demchuk.

As part of the visit to Ukraine, the Polish delegation also visited the Mobile Rescue Center of the State Emergency Service, where Ukrainian pyrotechnics spoke about the situation in the country, sharing their experience in the recovery and defusing of air bombs, artillery shells, grenades and other dangerous objects. highlighted the needs of the mining industry and discussed the possibilities of cooperation. The meeting opened opportunities for Polish businesses and the Saper community to participate in projects aimed at ensuring security.

As a result of Russian aggression, Ukraine is one of the most mined countries in the world — about a third of the territory of our state is potentially littered with explosive objects (VNPs).

Since February 24, 2022, the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service carried out more than 83 thousand visits, surveyed more than 1.1 thousand square kilometers of territories, and detected and neutralized about 470 thousand units of GNP.

In total, more than 14 thousand objects and households were depopulated, 7 thousand 847 km of power lines, 549 km of gas pipelines, 3 thousand 736 km of roads, 606 km of railway tracks. Also surveyed more than 14 thousand 300 hectares of water area of water bodies.
